Subconscious is shopping for you

For one month before Christmas, we all go to buy our special gift for the people we love and one week before everything and everywhere is going crazy, but why this happened? Why we buy too many things and make an effort to get that specific present? Well, when you go out to shopping only 0.0004% of the things you buy is made it consciously! You don’t why you are buying that unnecessary wallet or t-shirt; it’s your subconscious that is making the job for you. Our brain works with different process to make a determinate choice, this 8 step will reveal you what is it doing with you shopping:
  1.  Suggestion: When you go to a store and seller asks you “Would you like to buy…?” you probably end up buying that stuff. That’s how the stores increase their sales.
  2. Reciprocity: we innately give back when someone give us something. That’s why you put pictures on Facebook sending Christmas love…. 80 % of your contacts will respond you.
  3. Social proof: this is a classic; you buy it because everybody does. You are buying Fifty Shades for you friend just because is the most reading book in Chile.
  4.  Mood: people feel different in this period, this festive mood promote go to shopping your gift.
  5.  Priming: when store begin to show Santa, decorated trees and put Jingle Bells, you start to think “I’ve to buy that toy for my bro”. It reminds you to do it.
  6. A time for consumption: Our ancestors needed all possible energy when this age come, cold and short day. That’s why we have to consume in Christmas. This works in the other hemisphere, in Chile are looong and hot days.
  7. Scarcity: you feel that you need to buy something just because “are the last ones!” or for limited time.
  8. Emotions: this is very important to define your purchase. If you see a little beautiful girl playing with a doll, you probable buy that one instead of a random one.
